Two people were hurt when a car and minivan collided at an Emporia intersection Saturday afternoon.
The call to South Merchant and Copley was logged shortly before 4 pm. Emporia Police Sgt. Tim Wacker says the westbound car, driven by 32-year-old Amber Hixon of Emporia, apparently failed to stop at the intersection and was broadsided on the passenger side by a southbound minivan driven by 21-year-old Juliette Myers of Emporia.
Hixon was not hurt, but two people in Myers’ van, 46-year-old Denetria Minor and 41-year-old Christopher Hill, both of Emporia, were taken to Newman Regional Health for apparently non-life-threatening injuries afterward.
Hixon was cited for failing to yield at an uncontrolled intersection.
