Last week, Kansas Governor Laura Kelly asked lawmakers to extend the state’s COVID-19 emergency declaration to the end of August. On Monday, she rescinded seven different executive orders relating to the pandemic.
Orders adjusting policies for licensing adult care homes, waiving the waiting week for unemployment benefits, income tax withholding for out-of-state telework and tuberculin testing requirements all end Tuesday. An order adjusting policy for driver’s license renewals and another extending the deadline for rural water district annual meetings will end June 30. An order adjusting policy for remote notaries and witnesses will end July 15.
Governor Kelly says this overall step is one of the last ones the state will take to end its emergency response to coronavirus. She also says the plan is to transition to a response effort dedicated to getting children vaccinated and offering support to local communities, both for vaccinations and testing.
