Ron's Ride culminates with delivery of pie, cinnamon rolls

On Wednesday, Ron’s Ride took place from Emporia to Olpe.

Earlier in the week, Evora Wheeler donated a homemade pie of the winner’s choosing and a pan of cinnamon rolls as part of an auction during KVOE’s Morning Show. The baked goods were delivered Friday to Charlotte Pinick, who claimed a coconut cream pie, and Joan Williams.

The on-air auction raised over $400 for Ron’s Ride, which generated over $5,000 in approximately two weeks for Special Olympics Kansas.

Ron’s Ride is now an annual fundraiser where KVOE General Manager Ron Thomas accompanies local law enforcement on a 10-mile ride to Olpe. In most years, law enforcement continue to El Dorado before the Special Olympics state games begin, but the state games were canceled this year and last year by COVID-19.
