The Emporia Senior Legion baseball team recovered after back-to-back losses Friday to pick up back-to-back wins Saturday.
In their first game, the senior’s shut out Chase County in three innings to pick up a 15-0 victory. The seniors would score in every inning opening the game with a four-run first inning followed by six runs in the second and five in the third.
Drew Hess was the winning pitcher giving up just two hits in three innings with three strikeouts.
In-game two, the seniors would come from behind to defeat Ottawa 14-5 in seven innings.
The seniors would trail early in the game with Ottawa scoring the first run in the second. The Senior Legion came alive in the fifth scoring four runs.
Emporia added five runs in both the sixth and seventh to close out the win. Cam Geitz picked up the win going six and two-thirds innings giving up five runs on seven hits with five strikeouts.
Geitz was also four for four at the plate.
Coach Anthony Markowitz says his team had a complete turnaround from Friday’s outing.
The Emporia Junior Legion did not fare as well Saturday losing both games at the Andover Tournament. The junior legion was defeated in their first game of the day by the Wichita Saints 20-1.
Post 5 would then lose to Newton 17-7.
