Power has been restored to well over 700 utility customers following multiple power outages Saturday morning.
The outages first developed after a sub-transmission line was damaged near Americus around 7:30 am Saturday morning. The damage led to customers in Americus, Allen and Bushong going without power for nearly four hours.
The damage also affected 4 River Electric Cooperative’s Americus and Thunderbird substations resulting in outages for just over 100 customers through the mid to late morning hours. 4 Rivers General Manager Dennis Svanes tells KVOE power was restored just before 11 am.
Evergy District Manager Rolland Trahoon II says power was fully restored to all affected customers around 10:50 am. Crews repaired a damaged conductor on the sub-transmission line feeding the affected area.

A damaged transmission line is the cause of ongoing power outages affecting several communities within the KVOE listening area Saturday.
According to Evergy District Manager Rolland Trahoon II, an undisclosed “public damage” incident to an Evergy 34.5 sub-transmission line near Americus around 7:30 am Saturday triggered the series of outages in Americus, Allen and Bushong.
At this time there are still approximately 700 customers without power.
Evergy crews are currently working on the issue. Meanwhile, over 100 4 Rivers Electric Cooperative customers are also without power as the incident affected the cooperative’s Americus and Thunderbird substations.
Evergy is anticipating having the power restored before 11 am.

7:52 am: Power Outages reported in Americus, Allen and Bushong Saturday morning
Over 700 Evergy Customers in three local communities are without power due to separate outages Saturday morning.
The Americus outage was reported just after 7:20 am Saturday morning and affects roughly 248 customers. The second outage affects Americus north to Allen and Bushong leaving over 470 customers without power.
Evergy crews are currently working on the issue and estimate that power may be restored by 9 am.
