When the Kansas City Royals start a series in New York against the Yankees on Tuesday, Adalberto Mondesi will be unavailable.
The Royals put Mondesi on the injured list with a left oblique strain after he was removed from Sunday’s game with discomfort. It’s the third time on the IL for Mondesi this season after he started the season on the injured list with a right oblique strain. He also had a left hamstring strain and just came back off the IL a week ago.
Mondesi has played 10 games this season, hitting .361 with four home runs. Ryan O’Hearn, who has hit .375 with 12 home runs in 19 games at Omaha, was called up.
Meanwhile, the Royals go into the series after winning two of three from Boston over the weekend. Brady Singer goes up against Gerrit Cole on the mound. First pitch is at 6:05 pm, and we’ll join pregame in progress around 6 pm on 14 KVOE and 96.9 FM.
