Emporia golfer Gentry Scheve narrowly missed winning the Kansas Golf Association’s Kansas Amateur Tournament qualifying event at Manhattan Country Club on Tuesday.
Scheve shot a 1-over-par 71, two shots behind George Clarke of Manhattan.
Scheve qualified for the Kansas Amateur Tournament, as did two other Emporia golfers. Caleb Schmid and Caden Massey both shot 4-over-par 74s to advance.
The Kansas Amateur Match Play Championship is July 19-25 at the Crestview Country Club in Wichita. The next qualifier is June 28 at Reflection Ridge, also in Wichita.
