The Emporia Senior American Legion baseball team was 1 and 1 on day 1 of the McPherson Hooper Showcase Friday.
Post 5 was outscored by the Wichita Aeros 7-3 in their first game.
Wichita scored 4 runs in the 4th inning before Post 5 scored 3 runs in the 5th inning. Cam Geitz, Jaxon Dial and Hunter Redeker scored the runs for Emporia.
Wichita responded with 2 more runs in the bottom of the 5th inning and added a run in the 6th inning.
Emporia would bounce back with a 10-1 win over El Dorado in their second game.
The big inning was a 4 run 6th inning.
Bobby Trujillo was 2 for 3 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored.
Aiden Skiles was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored and Vance Kinsey was 2 for 3 and scored 2 runs. Kinsey was also the winning pitcher giving up 1 run on 7 hits and struck out 8.
Quinn Dold had a 1-2-3 6th inning.
The Post 5 Seniors return to McPherson Saturday. Opponents and game times are to be determined.
