Kansas Big Brothers Big Sisters Serving Lyon County continued recent momentum with its first-ever Big on the Block event Saturday.
After doing better than expected with its For Kids Sake fundraiser, Director Jacque Wellnitz was grateful for a good turnout at Town Royal and the 10 block of West Fourth.
There was food, a cornhole tournament and music from Jared “Pete” Gile as part of the evening.
Big Brothers Big Sisters has more planned later this summer. The organization is getting ready for Brews and Bites at the Emporia Granada Theatre on Aug. 13 and a fundraising disc golf tournament Aug. 27. Information is on the agency’s Facebook page.
