The Boston Red Sox waited out the Kansas City Royals for a 6-2 win Wednesday night.
Salvador Perez hit a solo home run in the 2nd inning to give the Royals the early lead for the 3rd straight game. Perez would finish the game going 4 for 4 at the plate.
Boston scored 3 runs in the 3rd inning to take a lead they would not give up.
Boston added 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th.
An almost 2-hour rain delay after the 5th inning did not help the Royals who were trailing 5-1 at the time.
The Royals scored a run in the 6th, Whit Merrifield scoring on a Carlos Santana groundout.
The Red Sox with their win are the 1st team to 50 wins for the season. The Royals have now lost 8 in a row.
The Royals and Red Sox wrap up their 4 game series this afternoon. Kris Bubic will be the starting pitcher with the first pitch at 12:10p.
The Royals made another roster move Wednesday. They have placed Emmanuel Rivera on the 10-day injured list with a fractured bone in his hand.
They have called up Edward Olivares from Omaha for the 4th time this season.
