SOS held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open up its Community Advocacy & Service Complex Wednesday.
The ceremony was followed by a self-guided tour where the eager attendees would be able to get their first look at the office.
Previously, SOS had four separate locations in the Emporia area which made it difficult at times to help clients.
The new building will combine the four locations so that they can all be together. SOS board member Clara Corn said the renovated space will make helping clients much easier.
The Stronger Together capital campaign generated around $4 million to facilitate the renovations.
The new complex makes it possible for SOS to do more projects and continue to serve the Emporia community. Executive director for SOS Connie Cahoone said that some new services will be able to be introduced because of the brand new space.
SOS provides services to Lyon, Chase, Coffey, Greenwood, Morris, and Osage counties. Crisis and outreach services, an emergency shelter, children’s services and other support services are all offered under one roof at the new location.
SOS services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. If you are in need of their services please call 1-800-825-1295. Or for more information on SOS services visit their website at www.soskansas.com.
