Nationwide travel is projected to be the second-highest ever recorded for Independence Day weekend. There will likely be a 40 percent increase from last year when 32.4 million Americans traveled during the pandemic. Close to 48 million Americans will travel more than 50 miles for the holiday weekend, and over 44 million — or better than 90 percent — will be driving. With busy roads, those traveling for the holiday weekend should allow for more time when traveling and remain patient on roadways.
