What could possibly be better than Christmas? How about Christmas with fireworks.
That’s exactly what residents in Lebo got Saturday with the 32nd annual Stars and Stripes Celebration. This year’s theme was “Christmas in July” and it was a popular theme for the community according to Lebo City Clerk Carrie Sloan.
Saturday was just day two of the three-day celebration and included live music, barbecues, children’s games, lawnmower races and of course the annual fireworks display just to name a few.
In addition to the fireworks display in Lebo, both Admire and Cottonwood Falls put on their own fireworks shows Sunday. Emporia and Council Grove will have their fireworks displays Sunday. The Emporia display is set to begin between 9:30 and 10 pm at Emporia State University.
The Stars and Stripes Celebration will conclude Sunday with the annual Bob Ellis Memorial Tractor Pull, community fish fry and children and adult painting classes.
