Repair work will begin soon for Lyon County’s gravel road network following frequent and heavy rainfall in the area over the past week.
Thankfully, Lyon County Engineer Chip Woods says the work will be simple in comparison to year’s past given the scope of damage to county roads was relatively minor.
Woods says crews will begin replacing rock and surface materials as soon as area roadways completely dry up with the work taking roughly a month to complete.
Meanwhile, overlay work continues on a portion of Americus Road from Road 215 to 190. Woods explains the extent of work remaining.
Woods tells KVOE News the project was set back slightly due to recent rainfall, however, work should be wrapped up in the next two to three weeks. In the meantime, traffic is being directed by traffic lights and a pilot car to protect the safety of workers in the area.
Woods says drivers need to be cautious in the work areas and not drive through red lights or try to pass the pilot car which he says has been an issue on more than one occasion.
