Once again, there wasn’t much in the way of fireworks complaints in Emporia.
The Lyon County Emergency Communications Center reported less than five complaints Saturday into early Sunday. The sales and discharge period continues from 10 am to 11 pm Sunday and 10 am to 10 pm Monday.
Emporia’s Fourth of July Fireworks show is set for Sunday evening at Emporia State University.
6:45 am Saturday: Overnight fireworks complaints relatively low heading into Fourth of July holiday
Emporia residents have done well when it comes to observing the city’s fireworks discharge period as we near Fourth of July Sunday.
According to the Lyon County Emergency Communications Center, only a handful of overnight fireworks complaints were logged between Friday and Saturday. The sales and discharge period continues through Monday from 10 am to 11 pm Saturday and Sunday and 10 pm to 10 pm Monday.
Fireworks cannot be discharged on a street or in a park. Fireworks discharge is also not allowed within 250 feet of a hospital or medical facility.
Meanwhile, Emporia’s Fourth of July Fireworks show is set for Sunday evening at Emporia State University. The show should begin between 9:45-10 pm and could last as long as 30 minutes.
