Beacon For Hope Suicide Prevention is getting set for what will be a busy, and important, series of events over the next several months.
After having their entire events calendar wiped out due to the COVID-19 pandemic last year, the agency has a full lineup of events that get underway next month. Beacon will host its annual Art Inspired by Hope art show at the Granada Theatre on Friday, Aug. 6 from 5 to 9 pm as part of the August First Friday Artwalk.
Beacon Board President Becky DeJesus says the art show is open to everyone and is a very eye-opening experience.
Beacon is still accepting entries for the art show until Aug. 1. The cost to enter is $10 and the community will vote for their top three artists with gift certificates being awarded to the winners.
On Sept. 18, the Bowyer Community Building will once again play host to the agency’s signature event the Hope Links Us Together Suicide Prevention Walk. The walk will have numerous agencies on hand for residents to speak with, the annual walk itself and a featured speaker who will share their own personal story for those in attendance.
Executive Director Melissa Owen says each year the featured speaker is such a crucial part of the event.
This year will also see the return of the agency’s newest, and arguably one of its most popular, events the Unmasking Suicide Ball on Nov. 6 at the Bowyer Building. For more information on Beacon For Hope find them on Facebook, email Melissa@Hopelinks.org or call 620-481-9251.
