Flint Hills Technical College’s new leader is settling in well to her new position.
Dr. Caron Daugherty officially assumed her responsibilities as College President Thursday replacing former President Dr. Dean Hollenbeck who officially retired Wednesday after leading the college for the past 15 years. Daugherty comes to FHTC after having served as the one-time Vice Chancellor of Instruction at Metropolitan Community College in Kansas City, MO.
Daugherty says the reception from the local community over the past week has been wonderful.
Daugherty says coming to the college was a “no brainer” when you consider the reputation it has built over the past several years. Daugherty credits the work done by Hollenbeck and the college’s leadership team to create an identity that is focused on success for students, staff and the community as a whole.
She says that hard work has gained notoriety both at the state and national levels.
As it pertains to the future, Daugherty says she is currently working with the college’s marketing team to develop a “first 90 days plan” for the college moving forward. Daugherty says the current plan is to start detailing the plan out more thoroughly to the community over the course of the next month or so.
