Emporia Fire was busy dealing with a small fire that developed just a few minutes ahead of Emporia’s fireworks show Sunday evening.
The call that happened about 15 minutes before the fireworks show began was to 1006 Chestnut, and Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Ryan Conley says it was fireworks-related.
The initial investigation shows the residents were not home Sunday evening, and fireworks from nearby landed in the front yard, catching the porch on fire. The fire was put out quickly with no significant damage and no injuries.
