Despite a lot of social media chatter over the holiday weekend, the number of fireworks complaints was once again low.
The Lyon County Emergency Communications Center reports seven complaints for the final day of the fireworks sales and discharge period Monday, continuing a trend that started with the first day of legal fireworks June 27.
The KVOE News poll this week involves the city of Emporia’s fireworks policy, focusing on whether the current sales and discharge period should have fewer days, shorter hours per day, a combination of those options or be eliminated and replaced by the previous policy, which banned fireworks in the city limits.
