The Pro Disc Golf Association Junior World Disc Golf Championships will begin play on Wednesday. 251 players are entered in the tournament.
There are 4 area players entered. Abram Brazzle and Brennan Haag of Emporia. Carley Jordan of Neosho Rapids and Tyler Wright of Council Grove.
This is Emporia’s third time hosting the Junior World Championships. Tournament Director Doug Bjerkaas says the junior worlds has seen a 25% growth since it was last held in 2019.
The competition comes at a perfect time, as Bjerkaas explains many families are making the trip to Emporia as part of their summer vacation plans.
Player check-in begins Tuesday at the Granada Theater beginning at 9 am and going until 5 pm. The opening ceremony will be held Tuesday evening at 7 pm at the Granada Theater.
Play begins at 9 am Wednesday morning. The Finals will be played Saturday.
