One person was taken to Newman Regional Health following a single-vehicle accident north of Emporia Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Emporia Fire Department, the accident occurred just before 2:30 pm at 921 Road 240, six miles north of Emporia. Early indications are the driver, 60-year-old Paul Timmons of Americus, lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons and entered the ditch.
EFD says the driver-side door was pinned against the ditch due to its steepness and Timmons had to be removed from the passenger side. Timmons was the only occupant in the vehicle and was taken to Newman Regional Health with what are being called minor injuries.
