Rock climbing, food trucks, inflatables, a beer garden and disc golf were just some of the many activities at the PDGA Junior World Championships Block Party and Carnival on Friday.
The carnival was at 9th and Commercial from 6pm-9pm and it was the place to be for all people to come to enjoy their evening.
The Granada Theater ran the beer garden which was sponsored by Lyon County State Bank. Theater director Rebeca Herrera said that the carnival was a wonderful way to support the overall community and to simply “have a good time.”
Eric McCabe of Dynamic Discs said that the carnival was also a great way to inspire the disc golf community and the future generations of professional world champions.
The town of Emporia certainly jumped at the chance to put on an event in support of the Junior World Championships. Emporia Main Street Events Coordinator Jessica Buchholz says that a carnival was a perfect way to make the competition even more special.
All the tickets redeemed at the carnival will be divided amongst the varying organizations that made the carnival such a success. Buchholz credited organizations like Friends of the Zoo, SOS Strong, Emporia PD, Hispanics of Today and Tomorrow, Emporia First Friday and Leap of Faith Martial Arts for making the carnival a reality.
