One local lawmaker has been selected to attend a prestigious leadership program in the fall.
Kansas 60th District Representative Mark Schreiber of Emporia has been chosen as one of the representatives for the 26th annual Council of State Governments’ Bowhay Institute for Legislative Leadership Development (BILLD). Founded in 1995, BILLD is funded through both corporate and foundation sponsor grants and provides a curriculum focused on developing leadership skills by analyzing a variety of public policy issues.
The program is overseen by the Council of State Governments, a national nonpartisan organization founded in 1933, focuses on assisting and advancing state governments by research assistance, professional development opportunities, interstate consulting services, and suggested state legislation.
Schreiber says being selected to attend the program is very “humbling” to him.
Schreiber says he is looking forward to the opportunity to network with different legislators throughout the program.
This year’s BILLD program will take place Oct. 1-5 in Minneapolis, Minn in partnership with the Center for the Study of Governance and Politics at the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs.
