Budgetary matters and more will be part of the USD 253 Emporia Board of Education meeting on Wednesday night.
The board will continue discussions on whether to exceed the so-called revenue-neutral rate and may officially vote on the matter. Assistant Superintendent for Business Operations Rob Scheib has already said the district will have to go above revenue neutral because the district has to levy 20 mils each year, but if the district maintains the neutral rate, it will not collect the full 20-mil amount once that money returns back from the state. Scheib has also said going above revenue-neutral will not have any impact on property taxpayers.
In other business, the board will get separate updates on health insurance plans and Building for the Future construction across the district. It will discuss kitchen equipment and imaginative play furniture bids for the Jones Early Childhood Development Center. It will also elect a president and vice president.
The meeting starts at 7 pm at Mary Herbert.
