Newman Regional Health was able to showcase their new Airbus Wednesday in a partnership with Air Methods and its subsidiary LifeSafe 21.
The relationship between Emporia and Air Methods initially started around 2004 when a dependable Bell 206 helicopter was used for rapid patient transport. Now, the new Airbus program will have a highly innovative aircraft, a full paramedic staff and a mechanic team that will maintain the performance of the aircraft for a long time.
Chief Administrative Officer at Newman Regional Health Cathy Pimple said that the partnership with LifeSafe 21 and Air Methods was a win-win for both sides.
The new Airbus AS350/H125 makes it possible to deliver life-saving care to patients as quickly and effectively as possible. Local residents were able to join the crew and gain insights on how the new Airbus will substantially help Lyon County and surrounding areas.
It is Air Methods’ intention to have insurance take the brunt of the cost of treatment away from the patient’s family. Account Executive at Air Methods Clay Cox said that now folks will not have to worry about the financial aspects of critical care with the Airbus program.
The ribbon-cutting was followed by a reception featuring food, drink and also a drawing to win a free helicopter ride.
The helicopter responds to 2-5 calls every week and serves a 100-mile radius around Emporia.
