Earlier this month, Kansas Governor Laura Kelly reminded residents receiving COVID-related unemployment benefits to get enrolled in the My Reemployment Program to avoid losing their benefits. The state now says residents who have not enrolled in the program will start losing benefits before the week is out.
The Kansas Department of Labor will start denying benefits by noon Friday to residents who are “out of compliance.”
Residents receiving at least three straight weeks of unemployment benefits will automatically be enrolled in the My Reemployment Program. However, they will then have seven days from receiving a special information email to upload or build a resume at KANSASWORKS.com, complete an online job search as linked in the email and then email the completed form to the Department of Commerce.
The program is designed to connect jobless benefits recipients with workforce service professionals in their areas. Job search assistance will be free and personalized, including:
*Creation of a personalized plan focusing on accountability and goals
*Skills assessment matching interests and skills with local or area jobs
*Resume, interview and networking help
*Labor market information focusing on jobs currently in demand
