Live music and a silent auction can be expected at the Bourbon Cowboy this weekend, where the proceeds from the event will go to support Ashley Rodak’s battle against leukemia.
Singer, songwriter, and teacher Angela Perry will be performing alongside Brickhorse for the performance on Sunday.
Perry said that she is extremely proud to be performing and that she is “in awe” of Rodak’s fighting spirit.
Rodak received a transplant of new bone marrow with her sister as the donor. Since then, she has been tracking her progress. Over time, the old bone marrow cells will naturally deteriorate and be replaced by new healthy cells.
Rodak said that she has received an outpouring of support from far beyond her local Hartford community.
Brisha Jenkins will be organizing the auction and the donations side of the event. She said that she was “heartbroken” when she first heard the news of the diagnosis but knew that Rodak would not be alone with her help.
Lasting from 2pm-6pm, there is no set ticket price but there is a suggested donation of $5 at the door.
Donations will be accepted for the auction up until Sunday.
Perry’s new song “Sunflower Child” is dedicated to Rodak and will be heard publically for the first time during the benefit concert. The song will be available on all platforms following the initial performance.
