The Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve will host “Big insects on the Prairie” Friday. The activity begins at 10 am and continues throughout the day until 4 pm at the Tallgrass National Preserve.
The insect adventure is subject to location change due to weather. The activity will either be in the breezeway of the visitors center or moved indoors to the upstairs of the historic barn.
Big Insects on the Prairie is a free event for those that wish to attend. Staff will direct attendees to the activity from the visitors center.
Heather Brown, the Chief of Interpretation for the preserve explains what people can expect to see at the activity.
The event is hosted by Dr. Adnrine Shufran of Oklahoma State. Shufran has been employed with the Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology since 2003. It is her hope with this activity to help people get over their fear of bugs and get more people involved in the field of entomology.
Brown talks about how they found Shufran and came up with the activity.
It is her and the preserves hope that this activity will help people get over their fear of bugs and get more people involved in the field of entomology.
