Two Emporia nonprofits are among more than 25 organizations receiving project funding through the state’s Community Service Tax Credit program.
The Emporia Arts Center is receiving tax credits to help build an Innovation Library and update its classrooms and theater. Meanwhile, Hetlinger Developmental Services is receiving tax credits to build a new greenhouse.
Agencies receiving tax credits were chosen through a score-based selection process, according to Kansas Lieutenant Governor and Commerce Secretary David Toland.
The program offers a 50-percent tax credit for communities with populations bigger than 15,000, so donors making $1,000 contributions will receive a $500 tax credit when they file their state taxes. CSP is offering $1 million in awards for childcare and early childhood development programs and is offering $4 million all told.
