There are still some spots available in the first-ever Bryan Douglas Memorial Co-Ed Softball Tournament this weekend at Santa Fe Park, but those are for team members, not for teams.
Tourney organizer Gary Loucks says there are just a handful of spots available if players want to be involved. Volunteer scorekeepers, especially for the 3-6 pm timetable, and volunteer umpires are also welcome.
Cost is $15 a player and $175 per team.
The tournament honors the memory of Douglas, a chiropractor and longtime member of the Flint Hills Optimists, who passed away in March after an extended battle with kidney cancer. More information about the tournament is available by calling Loucks at 620-794-5561.
