One person was taken to Newman Regional Health after a one vehicle accident on the Kansas Turnpike Saturday.
The accident occurred at mile marker 153.5 northbound just before 2 pm. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol a 2010 Chevy Traverse was traveling northbound when the driver, 49-year-old Marco Ibanez-Banillo of Emporia, lost control due to wet conditions.
The vehicle spun out and struck the barrier wall. Ibanez-Banillo was unharmed, however, a passenger, 38-year-old Erica Alvarez-Andres of Wichita, was taken to Newman with suspected serious injuries.
Both individuals were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.
