Bourbon Cowboy opened its doors to a special fundraiser Sunday afternoon.
Brickhorse played for close to three hours as a benefit for Ashley Rodak, a Hartford resident battling leukemia. The show also featured Rodak’s high school volleyball coach, Angela Perry, who wrote the song “Sunflower Child” in Rodak’s honor.
Over $2,500 was generated from the concert, silent auction and 50-50 raffle.
Rodak is awaiting word on the success of a recent bone marrow transplant from her sister. She was recently diagnosed with graft-versus-host disease, a complication of stem cell transplants where the graft T-cells see the patient’s healthy cells as foreign and attack them. SHe has also been dealing with neuropathy, a rather common side effect from cancer treatments that damages nerves.
