The rapid onset of community events earlier this spring triggered Lyon County Public Health to ask residents to help with COVID-19 disease investigations, in part by naming close contacts. The recent increase in variant cases is prompting Public Health to make the same request.
Lyon County Health Officer Dr. Ladun Oyenuga:
Dr. Oyenuga says close contact information is required. It’s also important because it can lead to quarantines if needed and thus slow down the spread of the virus.
This comes as variant cases slowly increase, both for Lyon County and area counties. It also comes with Public Health now offering the Pfizer vaccine on a daily basis along with the Johnson & Johnson variety. Moderna vaccines are available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Walk-ins are welcome, however, appointments are preferred. Residents can schedule an appointment for vaccinations by calling 620-342-4864.
Meanwhile, health departments in Chase, Morris and Osage counties are also reminding residents they have free COVID-19 vaccinations available for residents ages 12 and up.
