We’re just over a week away from the start of 2021 Lyon County Fair activities.
The fair gets underway unofficially next Thursday, Jul. 29 with the Friends of 4H picnic before 4H activities begin Friday, Jul. 30. Lyon County Extension 4H Agent Corrine Patterson says they’re excited for a return to normal activities after COVID-19 significantly altered the fair’s format last year.
She says there will still be some similarities to last year’s events, namely streaming 4H activities both through a partnership with KVOE and through the use of social media. Patterson says the ability to stream last year’s events was a true “blessing.”
Following a week of 4H activities, the fair will then shift to the traditional grandstand events for the second week. Residents can purchase tickets to the events in advance through 4H participants at a discounted rate according to Patterson.
In addition to the 4H and grandstand activities the annual carnival will return and will be running every night from Aug. 5-14. For more information visit Lyoncountyfairks.org.
