Home sales rose in Emporia when compared to June of last year.
The Sunflower Association of Realtors says Emporia’s home sales rose by nearly 14 percent, with 58 homes sold last month compared to 51 sold in June 2020. The median sales price was almost $166,000, up over 27 percent from the $130,000 a year ago.
Active listings, meanwhile, declined from 90 a year ago to 53 — meaning the city has about 1.2 months’ supply of available homes for sale. That number is down almost 50 percent from June of last year.
Emporia homes are also spending less time on the market before they are sold. The June median days on market is three, compared to eight in June 2020 and 12 in June 2019.
For Lyon County outside the Emporia city limits, home sales rose slightly — up from 45 last year to 46 last month. Active listings went from 55 in June 2020 to 37 last month, a drop of almost 33 percent. Lyon County currently has 1.1 months’ supply of available homes for sale, down over 33 percent from June 2020, and median days on the market went from 13 days last year to five days last month.
The median sale price for Lyon County homes is $141,000, up from $133,333 in June 2020.
