The labor-intensive work on West 30th Avenue is largely complete.
Emporia City Engineer Jim Ubert tells KVOE News the contractor is currently pouring driveways, finishing curb and gutter work and wrapping up stormwater drainage. Paving, striping and grading is the next step before everything wraps up.
Ubert says this work zone has been long under consideration by the city.
This helps the section of 30th from Crestview to Prairie with drainage, elevating the rural aspect to city standards. Besides addressing the immediate situation, Ubert says this also helps set the stage for future improvements and enhances the prospect of future development in that area of town. Ubert says the area will likely be a major development corridor for Emporia, based on the city’s geography and nearby floodplains.
