For months, Lyon County’s coronavirus numbers were fairly steady below 10 per reporting period. Over the last 10 days, it has been more like a roller-coaster.
Friday’s report from Lyon County Public Health included just three new cases after 13 cases Wednesday and one Monday. Last week, Lyon County had 10 cases July 16, 21 cases July 14 and nine July 12.
More good news came with the decrease of active cases from 36 Wednesday to 27 Friday. Of those current active cases, six are so-called breakthrough cases, meaning infections in people who are fully vaccinated.
Lyon County remains with 86 confirmed deaths from COVID-19, with two deaths awaiting final cause determination from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Active hospitalizations dipped from three to one.
Overall, the county now has 4,368 cases since late March 2020. This month, Lyon County has recorded 73 cases, including 13 of the delta variant and two of the alpha variant.
