The Flint Hills Mall was the target Saturday as Twin Rivers Junior Shooting Sports shared with the community all of the benefits of learning gun and archery safety.
Organizer Bev Hilbish says that learning proper safety techniques is crucial in and out of a competitive setting.
A hoverball range was set up where kids could practice their archery accuracy. In addition to the archery, a BB inflatable range was put in place so folks could get some target practice.
Other stations set up around the mall provided educational experiences to learn more about hunter safety.
Megan Hilbish serves as a member of the Twin Rivers Junior Shooting Sports Board and says that the work they do is critical in a variety of facets.
Twin Rivers Junior Shooting Sports was created 10 years ago to fund outdoor shooting-related youth activities in Emporia and the surrounding community. Through the dedication of volunteers, they make a difference in the community teaching self-control and discipline to develop youth leadership skills.
