Emporia’s summertime Street Rehab program continues.
City Engineer Jim Ubert says curb and gutter, driveway entrances and handicapped-accessible work has been the focal point of this project. Ubert says funding is for pavement, but the city has expanded the scope of Street Rehab because of the importance of proper drainage.
Ubert says sidewalks and connecting ramps are also an important component of Street Rehab work.
As mentioned earlier this month, work should be wrapping up soon on the pavement project involving 30th between Crestview and Prairie.
Here soon, East 12th will be resurfaced between Commercial and Whittier. Work should begin in early August, weather permitting. Ubert says the city’s goal wants to have that process done before the Welcome Back Block Party on Aug. 23.
