Evergy is making great progress in its efforts to relocate its main headquarters.
Evergy is currently working to relocate from its current facility at 220 Mechanic to its new location on Road 180. Evergy District Manager Rolland Trahoon II says the relocation has been needed for some time mainly due to a need for consolidation.
Trahoon says the age of the current facility, constructed in the early ’70s, coupled with the evolution of technology and equipment have all pressed the need for the relocation.
Trahoon tells KVOE News, the tentative plan is for architectural work to wrap up in the next few months with ground hopefully being broken by October, however, that is solely weather dependent.
Evergy has submitted an application for the annexation of a 20-acre parcel of land in the 600 block of Road 180 as part of the relocation effort. Lyon County Commissioners tabled the item during their weekly action session and plan to reconsider it during their upcoming session Thursday morning.
