The Kansas City Royals extended their winning streak to five straight with a 6-1 victory over the Detroit Tigers Sunday.
The Royals took an early lead in the bottom of the first inning thanks to a three-run home run by Salvador Perez.
Jorge Soler added solo home runs in the first and third to put the Royals up 5-0. An RBI Single by Jarrod Dyson in the bottom of the seventh all but put the game out of reach.
The Tigers would score a single run in the top of the ninth but were unable to build any momentum. Daniel Lynch was the winning pitcher going eight innings giving up just five hits with four strikeouts.
The Royals will look to continue their winning ways when they begin a three-game home series with the Chicago White Sox Monday. That game can be heard on KVOE 1400 am and 96.9 fm with pregame coverage beginning at 6:30 pm. First pitch is set for 7:10 pm.
