Blistering heat is returning to the KVOE listening area this week.
The National Weather Service has a heat advisory posted from noon Tuesday to 9 pm Thursday, affecting Lyon, Coffey, Morris, Osage and Wabaunsee counties. With air temperatures in the mid- to upper 90s all week and heat index readings above 100 degrees, TV-13 meteorologist Doug Meyers reminds residents there is a cumulative effect on the body whenever there is prolonged heat.
You’re urged to spend as much time in air conditioning as possible. If you can’t, take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening and take more breaks than you normally would. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing whenever possible.
We’ll keep you updated on KVOE, KVOE.com and KVOE social media.
