Two months ago, the Emporia Public Library closed to the public in advance of major renovations. The doors reopened Friday.
Director Robin Newell says the main focus was replacing the atrium after years of leaks.
The library is back to regular hours, meaning 9 am to 6 pm Mondays through Fridays and 1-5 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Computers, both on the second floor and in the first-floor children’s area, are available. The library’s storytime schedule will resume in September.
The next big project is a roof replacement, which is coming over the next few months.
