Summer vacations and loosening travel restrictions are seeming to make everyone want to hit the open road. The only pain is the increasing prices at the gas pump.
Even with the rising gas prices, Shawn Steward with AAA says that Kansas’ gasoline rates are not too bad when compared to the rest of American states on Wednesday.
Overall, gas prices are relatively stable after seeing a quick jump during recent months. Kansas is used to having cheaper prices for gas from a national perspective.
Steward says that Kansas joins around 30 states that saw slight decreases in gas prices during the last week due to several reasons.
There has been a much larger volume of travelers on the roadway during the summer. This pent-up demand for travel also adds to the higher prices at the pump.
A gallon of gas in Kansas costs an average of $2.94 right now, but current trends predict that we could see an increase in the coming weeks.
