The Toronto Blue Jays took advantage of playing in Toronto for the first time since 2019 Friday night and outscored the Kansas City Royals 6-4.
The Blue Jays had a 3-0 lead before the Royals scored a run in the 5th when Nicky Lopez tripled to drive in Jarrod Dyson.
Salvador Perez hit his 26th home run of the season in the 6th to make it a 3-2 game. Toronto scored 3 runs in the 7th to put the game out of reach. The Royals tried to rally scoring single runs in the 8th and 9th innings.
The Royals and Blue Jays play again Saturday afternoon. Mike Minor will be on the mound for the Royals. The first pitch is set for 2:07 pm. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM beginning at 1:30 pm.
The Royals traded Jorge Soler to the Atlanta Braves for a minor league pitcher Friday.
They also called up infielder Lucius Fox from Omaha.
