Emporia Fire’s investigation into a reported structure fire Sunday morning led to a conclusion totally unrelated to fire.
Initially, smoke was reported as filling Domino’s Pizza, 2326 Industrial, when the call was reported shortly before 11 am. Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Tony Fuller says there was no sign of actual smoke, either from fire or a faulty light ballast, after the initial investigation.
Fuller says store personnel discovered an unspecified issue with the restaurant’s heating, cooling and ventilation system that led to the haze inside the building.
No injuries were reported. Employees were preparing to open the restaurant when the situation unfolded.
