Several hundred area residents needing school supplies had their minds put more at ease through the work of Grace United Methodist Church this past weekend.
The church held its now-annual Kicks for Kids on Saturday, following that up with the now-annual backpack giveaway Sunday. Pastor Brenda Ulrich was glad to offer these services to community residents.
It’s the fourth year for both giveaways.
Kicks for Kids resulted in about 250 pairs of shoes given away, while the backpack and Bible giveaway started with about 45 backpacks and around 20 Bibles. The backpacks disappeared in about 10-15 minutes. Both events used drive-thru formats due to COVID-19.
