The Greater Emporia Area Disaster Relief Fund’s #VaxToNormal campaign is just over a month away from concluding, and two big announcements about the campaign were made on KVOE’s Morning Show on Tuesday.
United Way of the Flint Hills Director Mickey Edwards had details about the incentive campaign’s grand prize packages:
*The grand prize is a home improvement package including a PrairieLand Partners John Deere S-120 lawn tractor and utility trailer, a Green Mountain Peak grill from Waters Hardware, a saw and table from Mark II Lumber and more
*The runner-up prize is a tailgating package including a Blackstone Culinary Pro 3-burner gas griddle, Yeti cooler and other items
In the immortal words of infomercial stars everywhere, “but wait. There’s more.” Adults could take home three other bonus packages:
*A rest-and-recreation package includes a weighted blanket from Triad Leasing and other “restful relaxation items”
*Two ultimate one-year memberships from Mr. G’s Express Wash
*An Emporia State athletics package involving two general admission football tickets, a blanket, cold weather gear and $10 in game concession stand coupons
In addition, there are prizes for vaccinated youth. The grand prize for residents ages 12-17 is a $500 shopping spree with Emporia Main Street gift certificates. The runner-up prize is a $300 shopping spree.
To be eligible, residents must be fully vaccinated and register online at www.geadisasterrelieffund.org.
In addition, Edwards previewed the next vaccination clinic, which will take place as part of Abundant Harvest’s next mobile food pantry Aug. 10.
The food giveaway typically has a line develop well before it starts at 1 pm, so Edwards says volunteers will be ready starting at 10:30 am. They will walk the line from front to back offering vaccinations, and people who get vaccinated will receive a $10 gift certificate from Emporia Main Street.
This follows a drive-thru clinic last month at Riverside Elementary. Edwards the first event went better than expected for the number of vaccinations, given the weather conditions that morning, and she says the whole goal of the campaign is to get life back to normal as quickly as possible.
More information is online at www.geadisasterrelieffund.org. The grand prize drawing is Sept. 10. Weekly prize drawings continue every Friday at 10 am until the grand prize is given away.
