Emporia Police have arrested two women in connection with an alleged hit-and-run incident involving a kidnapping early this week.
Analysa Tamez, 26, and Mariah Lopez, 27, both of Emporia, were arrested Friday afternoon and booked on suspicion of kidnapping. Tamez was also booked on suspicion of aggravated battery.
The incident allegedly happened late Monday night at Ninth and East. Tamez allegedly was southbound on East with Lopez as a passenger. Their SUV allegedly hit 26-year-old Christian Jenkins, who was a cyclist traveling east on Ninth at the time of the wreck. After the wreck, Tamez and Lopez allegedly put Jenkins in the back of their SUV and drove around town for roughly 30 minutes before letting Jenkins out near her home. Jenkins suffered broken teeth and significant facial injuries, according to officers.
The suspect vehicle was located late Friday morning. Officers say it had significant windshield damage.
Formal charges are pending through the Lyon County Attorney’s Office.
