The 2021-2022 fundraising campaign for the United Way of the Flint Hills is fast approaching.
The drive officially starts Aug. 19, The kickoff celebration at the Kress Center is a collaboration between the United Way and the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce. Executive Director Mickey Edwards says it’s a good way to begin the campaign — while opening the door for conversations on what the United Way is all about.
Edwards says she was pleased to have USD 252 Superintendent Mike Argabright agree to serve as drive chair, especially after the district’s successful fundraising last year, and she was pleased last year’s drive raised almost $445,000 despite the coronavirus pandemic.
The drive helps to fund operations for over 20 community partners. This year’s total is 23 partners in Lyon, Chase, Coffey, Greenwood, Morris, Osage, Wabaunsee and Woodson counties. Some related fundraisers will return, including the Tastiest Taco event in October. Workplace campaign information should be distributed within the next four to six weeks.
